Kawarthas – Naturally Connected

You are invited to the “Reveal” of the Kawarthas, Naturally Connected Phase I Outcome on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chamber of the County Building, lower level of 470 Water Street, Peterborough. Phase I of the project focused on creating a mapping scenario of natural heritage system features and ecological linkages to build a natural heritage system for our region.

The Kawarthas, Naturally Connected Planning Team and the Steering Committee welcome you to take an hour and a half to attend our morning “Reveal” to present our findings, the preferred scenario, and reveal the final mapping which wraps up Phase I of the project.

For those interested in discussing how the mapping may be used, you are welcome to return in the afternoon for the launch of the Implementation Phase. Implementation opportunities, which will be the second phase of the project, may include use as a tool for stewardship activities, land restoration, conservation land purchases and use, land use planning, and research projects.

The project area is based on watershed boundaries that include the City and County of Peterborough, and the City of Kawartha Lakes.
