Theme 1 ran from October 2015 to June 2016 and focused on supporting kids to be more physically active. Different types of activity were offered or encouraged including active play, active transportation, sports and structured physical activity. These opportunities were offered throughout the community in different settings and for different age groups.
There were 19 main projects with approximately 10 agencies/businesses and 2 municipalities leading these projects and many additional partners being involved. Key partners included Peterborough Public Health, the City of Peterborough, Peterborough Regional Health Centre, YMCA, GreenUP, the Township of Cavan Monaghan, local school boards, local child care networks, Peterborough Family Resource Centre, Peterborough Council For Persons With Disabilities, Kawartha Nordic Ski Club, Scouts, and the Central East Physical Literacy Project.
