Farmers, did you experience water shortages or concerns about your ability to supply your livestock or crops with sufficient water during the 2016 drought?
Plan to attend this workshop to understand water cycle, water taking options, ground-water/well considerations in dry periods, alternative watering systems, alternative feeding strategies when your feed supply is running low, farm stewardship incentives, and considerations for retaining surface water on your property. As well as various booths that will provide you with additional take home information including Lang Pioneer Village Raise The Barn, Peterborough County Stewardship, Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association, East Central Farm Stewardship Collaborative, Otonabee Regional Conservation Authority, Sunderland Co-operative Inc, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Alternative Land Use Services Peterborough, and Farms at Work, among others.
Coffee and tea will be provided throughout the day and a free lunch will be served to participants who attend the workshop.
