Peterborough Social Planning Council

For the past 28 years, the Peterborough Social Planning Council has been working to improve the quality of life for all community members in Peterborough City and County.  It is our belief that to have a truly healthy community we must remove the barriers to full inclusion and involvement in our society.

The Peterborough Social Planning Council began as the Social Planning Committee of the United Way Community Services Organization, the predecessor to the United Way of Peterborough in the late 1960’s.  In 1977, PSPC was established as a nonprofit organization, with the assistance of City, County, United Way leaders and several community-minded citizens.

Since then, the PSPC has served the City and County by providing sound, unbiased research on important local issues, including: poverty, child development, violence prevention and access to food, health care, affordable housing and community economic development.
