City’s Annual Environment Day

The City’s Spring Environment Day is on Saturday May 14, 2016 at 791 Webber Avenue (beside Value Village) from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., rain or shine.

This annual event offers City residents an opportunity to recycle items not typically accepted in Blue Boxes. Again this year, video and audio tapes, DVD’s and CD’s, any appliance with a cord, hard covered books, scrap metal, computers, televisions and other electronics will be recycled. For the very first time, children’s car seats and vinyl records will be accepted and recycled this day only.

No commercial loads will be accepted. The event is open to City households only.

Automobile batteries and items that contain Freon, such as, refrigerators, air conditioners or water coolers will not be accepted.

Crime Stoppers will be on-site offering a confidential paper shredding service with cash donations gratefully accepted.

Blue boxes, composters and Blue in the Loo baskets will be available for cash purchase. City residents can bring their broken blue boxes for free replacements. GreenUP will have rain barrels available to purchase.

Bring a bucket and fill it up with the City’s compost – it’s free but once it’s gone – it’s gone.
